Currently, PaperPlus requires internet as it is a WhatsApp-based interface. However, the mobile data used is minimal.
Any smartphone with WhatsApp is sufficient for scanning. There is no requirement for tablets, laptops, or dedicated hardware.
PaperPlus builds a competency profile for each child based on scanned responses. It identifies which specific numeracy sub-skills the child has mastered, which are developing, and which need more practice. Each new worksheet is assigned to match the child's current learning level — not their grade level.
Worksheets can be generated in English and Marathi. Regional language support is expanding.
Typically one half-day orientation session is sufficient for teachers to begin using PaperPlus independently.
Yes — it is designed for exactly that. Our platform supports district-level management dashboards, block-level coordinator views, and school-level teacher interfaces — all from the same system.
Our scanning engine is specifically trained on worksheet responses from rural Indian schools. It handles pencil marks, partially filled answers, smudges, and slightly crumpled sheets well. In cases of very low confidence, the system flags individual responses for teacher review rather than guessing.
If a student is unable to scan, they can bring the worksheet back to school the next day, and scanning is performed by the teacher using a school device or the teacher's personal phone. We recommend any mid-range Android phone. In our field testing, cameras at 8MP and above consistently produce accurate results. We also provide a manual entry fallback for exceptional cases.
